A few years ago I began having Ulcerative Colitis symptoms. For me, mostly meant just passing blood. Being a guy I ignored the symptoms at first, hoping they would go away. I eventually went to the doctor and tests were ordered. They did a colonoscopy and diagnosed me with ulcerative colitis. The first ulcerative colitis treatment they chose was a medication called Asacol. Two weeks after I started taking the medication I began having adult onset seizures. These were simple partial seizures which started in the left parietal lobe. That’s a fancy way of naming the part of the brain they found the seizures in when they read the EEG results. Part of my whole story is located here http://www.homehealth.usana.com/?page=page . I eventually stopped using the Asacol because it was so hard on my body. I was a zombie with seizures. Once I stopped using the Asacol, my brain felt somewhat better, but my colon only got worse. I got so weak that I could not walk up a flight of stairs without losing my breath. After I got to the top, I would have to stop and rest for awhile. I got on some vitamins which helped my strength quite a bit. My colon, however, never recovered and I eventually needed what the doctors refer to as a cure for colitis. The colitis cure was a total colectomy. This wonderful colitis surgery involves the complete removal of the large intestines. I have continued taking the vitamins and minerals I have found to give me so much strength. I now go for an occassional jog (six miles the other day). Please contact me or add a message to my blog if you would like to know more.
